Here’s how rumors start …

This has been both fun and disturbing to watch at the same time. At some point yesterday, Quint over at Ain’t it Cool News posted an item about a rumor that was starting to make the rounds about how Terry Gilliam might be able to work around Heath Ledger’s absence from the remainder of the “Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” shoot …

As Quint himself notes, the rumor appears…

“GallowWalker” Comic Book

Some terrific work was done this past year by some very talented artists toward (what would have been? will be?) the “GallowWalker” comic book tie-in …

Whether the project will actually be completed or not, remains to be seen, but these artists — Timothy Bradstreet, cover, Romina Denti, inside pages — have posted the completed work on their respective websites and it’s really worth checking out (links below).

“GallowWalker” Production Stills

Couple of days ago, I uploaded my stills from the “GallowWalker” shoot, which, last year at this time we were finally managing to recover from, unfortunately, I neglected to tell anyone about it, ha ha ….

Yet, still, they’ve been enjoying their share of traffic. At any rate, they’re up there now (over 100 of them in total), so enjoy

“Diary of the Dead” Trailer

George A. Romero has released an exclusive trailer for his latest, “Diary of the Dead” on his MySpace page, as well as an announcement for a pretty exciting contest …

I like the look of this. As I’ve said previously, these video-P.O.V. movies are going to be the way to go for good scars for the next little while.

The Greatest Zombie Western Never Made - pt. 2

In spring of 2005, the production of “The Wretched” made an unexpected move to Hollywood. Apparently a very interested producer there, had stepped-in, offering that he and his sources would put up a good deal of the cash for the project but in return he would want a lot of control …

… whether it was direct, explicit control, or just perceived control on the part of the original team…

A Quick Interview with Director Jack Hill

Earlier in the week I kinds flew off the handle here about a planned “Spider Baby” remake. Following this, I had the chance to speak with Jack Hill, the genius writer/director behind such classics as “The Switchblade Sisters”, “Coffy”, and “Foxy Brown” while he assuaged my fears and told me the “Spider Baby” remake was shaping up very nicely …

Jack Hill has a career of which I am frankly…

The End of Cinema

In 1967, Jean-Luc Godard declared with the closing credits of “Weekend”: End of Film. End of Cinema. He was right, but a few decades off. Cinema is currently suffering a slow and painful death; weekly box office returns bear this out if that’s the way you measure things, diminishing quality bears this out if you prefer to look at things that way …

Movies have changed and they…

The Greatest Zombie Western Never Made - pt. 1

While I was in London at the beginning of 2004 working on the post-production of Cold&Dark, writer/producer Joanne Reay told me she already had an idea for her next project: a horror-western called “Diablo”…

At the time, no other substantial film had been made in this genre, so right off the bat I could see that it was a great idea, and without even knowing much about the…

No, really David, how do you feel about that?

(via Gizmodo) Video clip of David Lynch expressing his feelings on people watching movies on their iPhones (soundtrack remixed as an Apple ad with hilarious results) …

Just for the record, I’m gonna have to agree with Mr. Lynch on this one.
