March 24, 1972: “The Godfather” When I was growing up in the seventies, everything was "The Godfather", and rightly so, as the film has taken its place as one of the best American films ever made. Don LaFontaine 1940-2008 (via AICN) Don LaFontaine, a.k.a., "The Voice", passed away yesterday in Los Angeles, and with him, ends an era of movie trailers. Most will know him from the recent Geico commercial, even though they have heard his voice for years.
