Making “GallowWalker” - part 3 (with video!) For this installment of my own recollections of the making of the film "GallowWalker" in Namibia at the end of 2006, I actually have some making-of videos that I put together at the time (with the help of Nicky Matthew, who shot the footage for the official making-of, which I assume, will eventually accompany the DVD whenever the film is released in whatever form) which were intended to sort of…

Making “GallowWalker” - part 2 [a continuation of my own experiences on the making of the film "GallowWalker". You can read part 1 here] With Wesley Snipes officially on-board, things really started moving fast. The film's line-producer was in place, in Namibia, setting up a production base in the town of Swakopmund. Basically, if you are shooting anywhere near the western side of Namibia…

Home of the One-Week Screenplay I have to admit, I'm a bit of an idiot. A little over a week ago, I got the idea in my head that I could actually write a screenplay in a week. See, I'd read this article over at Jeff Vandermeer's blog entitled "How to Write a Novel in Two Months", and I figured, taking into account the "exchange rate" between a novel and a…

Sneak Peek: “ef” I've uploaded a handful of pics from a feature film I'm currently working on called (mysteriously) "ef" to the front section of this website ... The film is right now only in the development stage, but Joanne Reay has already pecked out an absolutely brilliant and massive script (the first draft of which clocked in at around 300 pages!). If all goes well in the coming days and weeks…

Making “GallowWalker” - part 1 In 2006, I was approached by Joanne Reay and Andrew Goth to do some concept work and storyboards on a new project called "GallowWalker". It was a supernatural horror film, in a western setting and was to star Wesley Snipes. I immediately thought of "Blade" in a Western, but after I read the script I realized that I was very wrong. The story was moody and dark…

“GallowWalker” Comic Book Some terrific work was done this past year by some very talented artists toward (what would have been? will be?) the "GallowWalker" comic book tie-in ... Whether the project will actually be completed or not, remains to be seen, but these artists — Timothy Bradstreet, cover, Romina Denti, inside pages — have posted the completed work on their respective websites and it's really worth checking out (links below).

“GallowWalker” Production Stills Couple of days ago, I uploaded my stills from the "GallowWalker" shoot, which, last year at this time we were finally managing to recover from, unfortunately, I neglected to tell anyone about it, ha ha .... Yet, still, they've been enjoying their share of traffic. At any rate, they're up there now (over 100 of them in total), so enjoy

The Greatest Zombie Western Never Made - pt. 2 In spring of 2005, the production of "The Wretched" made an unexpected move to Hollywood. Apparently a very interested producer there, had stepped-in, offering that he and his sources would put up a good deal of the cash for the project but in return he would want a lot of control ... ... whether it was direct, explicit control, or just perceived control on the part of the original team…

The Greatest Zombie Western Never Made - pt. 1 While I was in London at the beginning of 2004 working on the post-production of Cold&Dark, writer/producer Joanne Reay told me she already had an idea for her next project: a horror-western called "Diablo"... At the time, no other substantial film had been made in this genre, so right off the bat I could see that it was a great idea, and without even knowing much about the…
